WotC News
- Various sources are reporting that Andy Collins is leaving WotC today, and that Torah Cottrill has been laid off. More info when I get it.
- Update: also Peter Schaeffer (confirmed in his blog here) and Jesse Decker.
Andy Collins has written a ton of stuff, including the 4e Player's Handbook.
Torah Cottrill has wrtten Dragon Annual and Dungeon Annual, and edited Player's Handbook 2
Peter Schaeffer has most recently written the White Lotus Academy (4e) material.
Jessie Decker has also written a ton of stuff, and has been editor of Dragon Magazine.
I'm wondering if my prediction needs to get modified from "WOTC announces new version of Dungeons and Dragons at Gencon 2010" to "WOTC announces End-of-Life of Dungeons and Dragons at Gencon 2010"...

Black Heart -- D&D 4th Ed.
Submitted by Gargs454 on July 14, 2009 - 12:17pmI'm starting up a 4th Ed. D&D campaign for those who are interested. We'll be starting with a character gen/introductory session on Wednesday August 5th at 6:30. I believe (though Dave can correct me if I am wrong) that this is the same time slot as Dave's Solomon Kane Slipstream game.
Brief intro for the campaign:
The small village of Ravenswood has enjoyed a relatively peaceful existence since the end of the Race Wars. However, when the priest of Moradin dies suddenly, events are set in motion that threaten to tear all of the world of Kitara asunder.
Brief intro about me as a DM:
I try to run a fairly relaxed game. I certainly don't claim to be an expert on the rules and if I can't find an answer quickly I'll make a ruling that lasts for the rest of the session until I can look it up further. I am a big fan of character backgrounds as it gives me an idea as to how to tailor the campaign in a fashion that all the players will enjoy. I like combat, but also feel that while its an important part of the game, its not the only part of the game -- still, though, there will usually be a fight to be found.
Character Gen will be standard point buy as outlined in the PHB. Feel free to take a background so long as it is not setting specific (Eberron, FR) though if there is a certain benefit you are looking for from one of those backgrounds talk to me, I'm sure we can work something out (keeping in mind you only get one benefit, not all of the options).
Feel free to ask any questions here or to e-mail me at rscales@co.champaign.il.us If you e-mail me, be sure to put "D&D" or "Armored Gopher Game" or some such in the subject line as my work filter often sets aside unknown addresses.
Hope to see you all out there!
Cheers,
Rob

Eberron Campaign
Submitted by Mith on July 4, 2009 - 3:16pmHey all
I am starting an Eberron campaign around 6 pm on Friday the 24th of July. Looking for 4-6 players. The game will run every other Friday. If you are interested, character gen will be the standard 4.0 point buy system. Acceptable backgrounds are any of the general or Eberron specific. Gods from Eberron only. Any of the existent WOTC races and classes are fine, if you don't know where they would fit into the world just ask (or buy the Eberron player's guide from the Gopher).
I am requiring the following information, as a minimum, from the players:
--What your character did during the Last War which only ended two years ago. If you are from one of the other continents, I still need an idea of how you have made a living thus far.
--What are your character's current goals in life. This will help me get a general idea of how to develop the campaign.
If you have any questions please post here or email me at porter1314@yahoo.com
