Magic: The Gathering

On Saturday, March 13th, Armored Gopher Games will be hosting a Peasant Magic tournament.  The Starting time is 6:30pm.

We had 14 players in December, and 12 players in January.  Let's keep the momentum of fun magic in CU going!

What is Peasant Magic???

• Peasant Magic is a fun format that anyone can build a deck for, at minimal cost.
• A Peasant Magic deck can have NO rare cards.
• A Peasant Magic deck can have only 5 uncommon cards.
• Every other card in the (60 card minimum) deck must be a common.
• Alpha through Zendikar - If the card has a white border, or a black border - and it has a standard Magic:The Gathering back, you can play it.

How do I know what is common or uncommon???

• If the card has ever been printed as a common, you can count it as a common.
• If the card has never been printed as a common, but has been printed as an uncommon, you can count it as an uncommon.
• Look at the Gatherer website (http:/gatherer.wizards.com) to see what rarity the card has been printed at.

What do I need to bring???

• A deck
• A way to keep track of life totals (pencil and paper, small rocks, really solid boogers)
• A decklist.

What's a decklist???

• A decklist is a piece of paper that has a listing of all the cards that you are playing in your deck.  On this decklist, you need to have your name, and you need to indicate which of the cards in your deck are UNCOMMON.  Remember - NO RARES, AND ONLY 5 UNCOMMON CARDS.

How much does it cost to enter???

Armored Gopher Games is holding a BYOB draft March 13th, what's a BYOB draft you ask?  A BYOB is like any other draft except YOU supply any 3 boosters of your choice for the draft, and then everybody drafts with those packs.  Here's a quick rundown of how this works:

To get Friday Night Magic into Armored Gopher Games, we have to hold a number of events that garner at least 30 unique DCI/WPN numbers in a four month period. That march continues tonight!

Tonight's event is a booster draft using cards from Conflux, WorldWake, and M10 (one pack of each).

• The cost for this event will be $14.00.
• Prize support will be packs of WorldWake, divided out based on the number of players there are.
• Players keep what they draft.
• The format will be multi-round Swiss-style. There will be no single-elimination drafts here at the Gopher. EVER.

Welcome to the first DCI/WPN-sanctioned constructed-deck tournament held at Armored Gopher Games in almost two years!

Armored Gopher Games is marching hard to get itself positioned to hold Friday Night Magic events, and that trek continues today.

Today's event is a Standard Constructed format event, using Swiss-style pairing. The number of rounds it lasts will be determined by the number of players that attend.

Details...

• This event needs a minimum of eight (8) players to happen.
• The maximum number of players for this event is sixteen (16). We're a relatively small store, and are just coming into our own as a Magic: the Gathering venue. Bigger tourneys will happen as we gain more experience running them.
• Prizes will be awarded to the top half of the field. Prize Support will be drawn from packs of WorldWake. Final award numbers will be based on the total number of players participating in the tournament.
• Entry Fee for this event will be $5.00.
