Warhammer 40k Planetstrike Escalation league (an eight week excursion)
The league will escalate thru four ‘phases’; each with an increasing point total and new scenario or selection of scenarios. The scenarios are each selected from, or based upon those recently reprinted by Games Workshop in the ‘Planetstrike’, and ‘Planetstrike II’ appendices found in the Red Waaagh and Hour of the Wolf campaign supplements. The original Planetstrike supplement is available as a digital download available from the Black Library online. These scenarios provide a context for planetary assaults and contest for planetary control. They also provide an opportunity to explore the use of building datasheets and models as more than scenery and cover. This will be key in each of these scenarios, so reviewing various building datasheets available in ‘Stronghold Assault’ would be advisable.
The following rules will apply throughout the league to prevent dramatically uneven army matchups.
No super heavies. These are intended for Apocalypse games where all parties plan for and bring them.
You can self-ally; to compensate for variable army specific detachments in print, allied detachments can be the same faction as the primary detachment.
Fortifications can only be used per the mission rules, and not included in any army lists.
Each phase will have several restrictions on units and detachments to inhibit the effects of army tailoring and ‘stacking’.
Summoned Chaos Demons will follow the rules of ‘Codex: Chaos Demons’, including being treated as an allied force, and not assumed to be friendly or ‘Brothers in Arms’ allies.
1) One point will be awarded, once, in each phase, for each of the following;
